屈原故里湖北秭歸縣每年端午都會舉辦傳統划龍舟活動，今年因場地施工，改辦「旱地龍舟」賽，這也是旱地龍舟首度亮相屈原故里，整個端午節吸引逾1萬5000人參加。
秭歸縣20日舉辦「2015屈原故里端午文化節」，推「詩在民間」端午詩會、屈原故里端午習俗表演、包粽子比賽、旱地龍舟賽等活動。同時，近萬人齊跳大陸知名歌曲「小蘋果」改編的「小粽子」，以此慶端午。
原本龍舟競渡是秭歸當地過端午必不可少節目，但因該縣龍舟訓練基地徐家沖港灣濱湖景觀帶正施工，基於安全考量，今年將傳統龍舟賽改為旱地龍舟賽。
由於大陸北方部分地區缺乏適合的划龍舟場地，旱地龍舟應運而生，尺寸比傳統龍舟短小，前後安裝兩組車輪，賽時6人一組，坐龍舟最前方選手擂鼓助威，並用腳控制龍舟行進方向，身後選手握著兩根木棍用力撐地，「划動」龍舟前進，最先抵終點並成功擊鼓搶紅的隊伍就獲勝。
此次旱地龍舟賽共9支隊伍參加，參賽隊伍先划著龍舟圍繞屈原廣場進行游江祭祀儀式，之後展開激烈角逐。屈原故里秭歸縣的端午民俗歷史悠久，2009年成功被收入世界非物質文化遺產名錄之後，當地過端午甚至比過春節還要隆重盛大。
